Owning a boutique has always been a dream of mine, and naturally the right product mix was a major concern. I found myself daydreaming of all the trendy items and products that I would stock my store with. However, the excitement of going to New York City and hand selecting lines from the gift and boutique shows suddenly did not fulfill the need that I once thought it would. Then it hit me, I needed to carry merchandise that reflected the way I shopped as a consumer; it had to be made locally. It saddens me to see goods produced overseas when there are a lot of wonderful crafts people right here in Maine. These Maine artisans are filled with same passion and creativity that encouraged me to open lalo. It only made sense to tap in to this local resource. Consequently, given our economic situation, I felt like I was doing my part to aid in helping the local economy. It then became more apparent that this was what I needed to do.
